Methane gas disaster in the cave in the Penche-Kilit Operation: 5 soldiers were martyred

The Ministry of National Defense announced that 19 soldiers were exposed to methane gas during the search-year 6 July 2025 in a cave in the Penche-Kilit operation zone, and that 5 of them could not be saved despite all the interventions.

• Infantry Contracted Private Ahmet Kuşak

National Defense Minister Yasar Guler, published in his condolence message, "Hero friends, our friends, martyrs on July 6, 2025. Saint martyrs of God's mercy; grieving families and noble nation condolences and patience," he said.

Infantry contracted Private Özkan Özkanlı'nın martyrdom news, Aksaray's mother Huriye Özkanlı'ya was given by the authorities.

Ammunition Petty Officer Senior Sergeant Abdurrahman Akdoğan's martyrdom news was given to his family living in Pütürge district of Malatya.

Lieutenant Ege Akar's martyrdom news was forwarded to his family in Buca district of Izmir.

Search and rescue works in the region continue with the coordination of AFAD and Turkish Armed Forces teams.
