Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu: “We will plant a sapling for every high-speed train ticket”

Kampanya kapsamında, yüksek hızlı trenlerle yapılan her seyahat doğaya bir fidan olarak geri dönecek.

“We will plant a sapling on behalf of each of our passengers for 1 year.”
Minister Uraloğlu, in his statement at the ceremony, said, "We will plant a sapling on behalf of each passenger traveling on our high-speed trains. An average of 13 million passengers are carried on our lines annually. Thus, we will plant 13 million saplings in the soil."

Green Homeland Consciousness and Fighting Against Climate
The Minister emphasized the importance of forests for Turkey's climate balance and biodiversity and noted that the campaign aims to raise awareness.

Pioneering Ministry in Carbon Footprint
Uraloğlu reminded that the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure was the first ministry in Turkey to perform corporate carbon footprint calculations.

97 Million Saplings Planted in 23 Years
Minister Uraloğlu stated that the General Directorate of Highways is the institution that planted the most trees after the General Directorate of Forestry and said, "We have planted 97 million saplings in the last 23 years."

“We Care about Green Transformation in Road Transport”
Stating that they have increased environmentally friendly practices with ecological bridges, bicycle paths, Solar Power Plants and asphalt recycling facilities, Uraloğlu said that the number of electric vehicles exceeded 320 thousand by 2025 and the number of charging sockets exceeded 35 thousand.

“We Prevented 62 Million Tons of Carbon Emission with Marmaray”
Announcing that the railway network will be increased to 17 thousand 500 kilometers in 2028, the Minister stated that the Marmaray Project has prevented 62 million tons of carbon emissions since it was put into service in 2013.

Zero Emission Target in Aviation
Uraloğlu, Türkiye’nin 50 havalimanıyla Havalimanı Karbon Akreditasyonu Programı’nda Avrupa’nın en çevreci ülkeleri arasında yer aldığını, “Follow Me” hizmetlerinde kullanılan yerli TOGG tools sayesinde sıfır emisyon hedefine hızla yaklaşıldığını açıkladı. “Hedefimiz 2053’te taşımacılıkta net sıfır emisyona ulaşmak.” dedi.
