Turkey's first zero waste village was established in Artvin: All waste is being transformed
With the pilot project implemented in a village in Şavşat district of Artvin, all domestic wastes are recycled.
Example application at village level
Within the scope of the project established with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanism and Climate Change, Şavşat's Veliköyü passed to the zero waste system completely.
Organic waste turns into compost
Food and vegetable wastes are converted to fertilizer in the compost area in the village square and used in agriculture.
Trainings were given
Environmental education is provided at regular intervals for the villagers.
Expected to be a model
This application reportedly prepared projects to set an example for other villages of the Eastern Black Sea.
