Re-Welfare Party Konya Deputy Ali Yüksel: "Who will be charged the real bill for the so-called free Smart Meter Conversion?"

Yeniden Refah Partisi, 1 Mart 2026’da uygulanacağı duyurulan smart meter conversion program hakkında kamuoyuna açıklamada bulundu. Parti adına değerlendirme yapan Re-Welfare Party Konya Deputy Ali Yüksel, drew attention to the financial dimension of the transformation process.

Recalling the statement made by the authorities that "consumers will not be charged", Ali Yüksel said, "Replacing millions of meters means a serious cost. This cost does not disappear; it is reflected either on the public or on the companies, and therefore indirectly on the citizens."

“To Whom Will the Real Invoice Be Issued?”

Calling for transparency regarding the scope and financing model of the smart meter transformation, Yüksel said, "Who will be charged with the real bill for this giant transformation, which is called free of charge? The public has the right to get a clear answer to this question."

Stating that the budget item from which the costs to be incurred during the transformation process will be covered and the burden that energy companies will undertake in this process should be detailed, Yüksel emphasized that the issue should be openly discussed in public.

Question Proposal was Submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly

Re-Welfare Party Konya Deputy Ali Yüksel announced that he submitted his written parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye in order to answer the questions regarding the smart meter conversion.

Party officials pointed out the importance of ensuring financial transparency in energy policies and stated that the process would be followed closely.
