More than 1,200 suspects were caught in the international cyber crime operation in Africa
Within the scope of the Operation Serengeti 2.0 under Interpol coordination, 18 African countries and the United Kingdom Security Forces detained 1,209 cyber criminals between June and August 2025.
Afrika’da siber suç örgütlerine karşı düzenlenen Operation Serengeti 2.0 isimli geniş çaplı operasyonda 1.200’den fazla kişi tutuklandı. Interpol liderliğinde yürütülen operasyon, Haziran ile Ağustos 2025 arasında gerçekleştirildi.
According to Interpol, during the operation:
- 1,209 suspects were detained
- 97.4 million dollars illegal income seized
- 11,432 malicious infrastructure was destroyed
- Attacks targeting 87,858 victims worldwide have been blocked
Scope of the operation
The fight against cyber crimes was carried out with the participation of 18 African countries and the United Kingdom law enforcement officers.
The action was carried out within the scope of African joint cyber crime operation financed by the United Kingdom Foreign Affairs, Nations Community and Development Office.
Connection with previous operations
- Operation Red Card (2024–2025): 306 şüpheli yakalandı, 5.000’den fazla mağdurun etkilendiği saldırılar açığa çıkarıldı.
- Operation Serengeti (2024): 1.006 şüpheli tutuklandı, fidye yazılımı ve çevrimiçi dolandırıcılık çeteleri çökertildi.
- Operation Africa Cyber Surge II (2023): 25 ülkede 14 şüpheli yakalandı, 40 milyon doların üzerinde zarara yol açan saldırılar engellendi.
Interpol Genel Sekreteri Valdecy Urquiza, operasyonun ardından yaptığı açıklamada şunları söyledi: “Each operation increases cooperation based on the previous one, strengthens information sharing and improves the capacity of investigation. Our global network produces concrete results in protecting victims more powerful than ever.”
