Emine Erdoğan: “The foster family system should be widespread not only in Turkey but all over the world”

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's wife Emine Erdogan, the Ministry of Family and Social Services in the Presidential National Library Conference Hall held in the "Preventive Family Day" program.

Emine Erdoğan stated that the meetings with foster families always have a special meaning for him and that they witnessed the highest summits reached by love and compassion in the example of these families.

Erdogan said in his speech, “We should never forget that all the children of the world are the essential sons of the family of humanity. Therefore, it is essential that the foster family system becomes widespread not only in our country but all over the world.”

Gönül Ambassadors Project was shown as an example by UNICEF last year, Erdogan said that the success of the project at the UNICEF Headquarters in New York, said that they are proud of both the nation and the state.

Protective family support under state guarantee

Erdoğan stated that foster families are under the support and supervision of the state and said, “After our children have been placed next to the foster family, our state does not draw their hands over them, and gives various financial support from educational costs to maintenance expenses.”

Emphasizing that early childhood affects the whole life of the individual, Erdogan said that the experiences gained in this period were decisive in cognitive and social development.

Solidarity culture continues with corporate structures

Stating that the foster family system is a powerful cooperation model between the citizen and the state, Erdoğan said that hundreds of years of solidarity tradition is carried out in the institutional structure today.

More than 10 thousand children are protective family

According to Erdogan's information, the number of children in Türkiye with foster families reached 10 thousand 657.

Stating that children with special needs are included in the foster family system, Erdogan said that 37 percent of children in this group are seriously disabled and families also protect these children.

"Family Year must be a start"

Reminding that 2024 was declared a “family year”, Erdoğan said that they wish each child would grow in a family environment.

Children who succeeded with state support

Erdogan said that children who grow up under the protection of the state were directed by the mentoring system and achieved success in different fields.
