Mastercard and Visa's payment infrastructure applications have been initiated competition investigation
The Competition Board decided to open an investigation on the allegation that some payment service providers of MasterCard and Visa.
At the meeting of the Competition Board dated 26 June 2025, MasterCard Incorporated and Visa Inc.
According to the decision of the Board, MasterCard Europe SA, which is under the control of MasterCard Incorporated, MasterCard Europe Sa Istanbul Liaison Office and Visa Inc.
As a reason for the investigation, the payments provided to other payment service providers of the banks within the scope of the Banking Law were not allowed to use POS infrastructures to work places abroad.
In a statement made by the Competition Board, the investigation initiated by the relevant companies violated or does not mean that the Competition Law does not mean, the decision is only a preliminary investigation.
