Sadullah Kısacık: “The Government Left the Central Bank and the People Alone in the Fight Against Inflation”

DEVA Party Deputy Chairman, Party Spokesperson and Adana Deputy Sadullah Kısacık, who attended the Central Bank Information Meeting held at the Plan and Budget Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, evaluated the economic picture after the presentation of the Central Bank President Fatih Karahan.

Kısacık said, “The government left the Central Bank and our people alone in the fight against inflation.”

“The government is the only party that does not pay the price in the fight against inflation”
Stating that irrational economic management has caused serious damage in Turkey, Kısacık said, "Workers did not receive interim raises, saying they would fight against inflation, civil servant raises remained low, retirees received less raises than they deserved. Our industrialists are forced to compete with low exchange rates. Bankruptcies and concordats are increasing."

Kısacık stated that he did not find the government's emphasis on shared responsibility in the fight against inflation sincere and said, "Our workers, civil servants and retirees are tightening their belts, but we do not see any ministry tightening their belts. The only party that does not pay the price in the fight against inflation is the government."

“Structural reforms were not implemented”
Kısacık said that the problems in the economy are not just about numbers, but that the lack of structural reforms makes inflation permanent.

“Political softening is essential for confidence in the economy”
Kısacık stated that the tense political atmosphere in Turkey negatively affects the economy.

Kısacık also emphasized that economic recovery will not be possible if political polarization continues: "There is no need for political tensions with such high inflation and cost of living. If softening is not achieved, neither politics will retain its value nor the economy will recover."
