13 million TL penalty for Mackolik betting ads
Competition Authority, live score platform Mackolik'e, betting advertisements due to violations of competition in total of 13 million TL administrative fine filed. It was found that Mackolik made discrimination in advertising areas and carried out practices that violate competition. In addition, additional obligations were introduced to the platform to adopt a transparent and egalitarian advertising policy.
The penalty was fined for a violation of competition
The Competition Authority gave a total of 13 million TL administrative fines on the grounds that Mackolik offers live score and sports data on the grounds that he had violated competition on betting ads. The Authority has found that Mackolik provides advantage to certain betting companies and carries out practices that violate competition in advertising areas.
Two separate violations were detected
As a result of the investigation by the Competition Authority, it was determined that Mackolik had two different violations.
7.422.998,17 TL was imposed on the platform which was found to have violated Article 4 of the Law No. 4054 on the grounds that customer limits in advertising areas.
It was determined that it violated Article 6 of Law No. 4054 on the grounds that it abuse its dominant status by discriminating in the field of online video advertising and a penalty of TL 5,567.248.63 was imposed in this context.
Advertising policy will be changed
The Competition Board has been obliged to regulate advertising policies in addition to Mackolik's fine. Accordingly:
Adopting an advertising policy between betting companies so that there is no discrimination,
Showing ads in a rotation way,
It was compulsory to create a transparent and egalitarian system in the routing areas for sports betting.
The Competition Board said that it aims to ensure fair competition in the sector with the decisions taken.
