Flower Okra broke a record in Amasya: its weight reached 3,500 TL

Price increase attracts attention
 
Metin Kantarcı, who has been marketing for 42 years, said that the price of flower gumbo has changed constantly, "Okra stock exchange is almost like a gold exchange. The price is coming down, one is coming out. 1.5 months ago, the weight was 2.700 TL, now 3.500 TL.
 
Even at night finds buyers
 
Stating that the flower gumbo is one of the most valuable products in the market, Kantarcı, "Okra, gold is sold in advance for money. Even late at night finds buyers. Jewelers may be closed, but okra is always open," he said.
 
Production process is laborious
 
One of the biggest factors in increasing the price of okra is that its harvest is laborious. The tiny gumbo, which is collected early during the summer, is dried on the rope with the help of one needle. This process can last for days.
 
Producer Emre Can Kantarcı explained the reason for the high price of gumbo with the following words: "It is quite laborious to plant, collect, arrange and dry. Therefore, we think the price will rise further."
 
Okra makes a great contribution to the economy
 
Tolga Güven, President of Amasya Marketers Association, stated that 2,500 tons of flower gumbo was produced last year and this contributed to the economy of 367 million TL. Güven said that they expect the production amount and economic contribution to increase this year.
