A new era for cooperation in election processes in the Turkic World: 'Central Election Authorities Consultation Platform' established

The Turkish World took a new step in the election cooperation process
The 'Central Election Authorities Consultation Platform' was established under the umbrella of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) in order to act jointly in election management among member countries. The platform was designed to ensure that election processes are carried out within the framework of transparency and reliability principles, to increase the sharing of technical experience and to develop election management capacities.

The first meeting was held in Bishkek
The first meeting to establish the platform was held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Representatives of election authorities from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary, which has observer status, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus attended the meeting. Participants shared their experiences in the field of election legislation, control mechanisms and digitalization.

Joint protocol signed
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed the ‘Central Election Authorities Consultation Platform Joint Protocol’. This protocol includes elements such as regular meetings, training programs and technical support mechanisms. In addition, the platform will enable mutual cooperation in election observation activities.

Goal: strengthen institutional solidarity in elections
Authorities stated that the platform will not be limited to election day applications, but will also provide interaction in a wide range of areas from planning election calendars to voter registration systems. Thus, TDT member countries will support each other both technically and institutionally in the election processes.
