CHP Izmir Deputy Ümit Özlale: “The Minimum Pension Increase Does Not Solve the Problem, Structural Reform is Necessary”

CHP İzmir Milletvekili Prof. Dr. Ümit Özlale, TBMM Genel Kurulu’nda görüşülen kanun teklifi üzerine yaptığı konuşmada, en düşük emekli maaşının sadece sembolik olarak artırıldığını ifade ederek, "We are increasing the salary, which will be 18,500 lira, by 1,500 lira, but the increase is less than 50 lira per day. Let this be our shame." dedi.

Structural Problems in Pensions
Özlale, son beş yıldır her yıl en düşük emekli maaşının görüşüldüğünü belirterek, sistemin temel sorununa dikkat çekti: "The share of national income allocated to pensions has remained at 6 percent in the last ten years, while the number of retirees has doubled. The government limits the share of retirees and underestimates the increase." ifadelerini kullandı. TÜİK ve Metropoll verilerine atıfta bulunarak, emeklilerin yüzde 72’sinin ay sonunu getirmekte zorlandığını, yüzde 70’inin tükenmiş hissettiğini ve yarısının kurumlara güvenmediğini aktardı.

Call for Systemic Reform
Özlale, "To make the retirement system sustainable, we need to create 6 million new jobs; 4.9 million of them are women. If sufficient resources are not allocated to vocational training and lifelong learning, structural injustices in the retirement system will continue." dedi.

Budget and Resource Criticism
CHP Milletvekili, hükümetin bütçe politikalarını eleştirerek, "There is an approach focused on managing poverty rather than reducing it.
