HAK-İŞ İzmir Provincial Chairman Şimşek: "The labor of municipal workers should be respected"

HAK-İŞ Konfederasyonu İzmir İl Başkanı ve HİZMET-İŞ Sendikası İzmir Şube Başkanı Gultekin Simsekmade a written statement regarding the salary crisis experienced by municipal employees.

LightningIn his statement, he emphasized that the "timely payment of wages" provision in the Constitution and Labor Law No. 4857 was violated in many municipalities.

Injustice to Workers Damages Public Conscience

Şimşek stated that municipality employees are the cornerstone of public services and said, "This injustice to our workers, who clean the streets every day, organize the parks and prepare playgrounds for our children, causes deep wounds in the public conscience."

Stating that it is unacceptable not to pay salaries at a time when the cost of living is rapidly increasing, Şimşek said, "This situation causes material and moral harm to our workers. It damages business peace and tranquility."

“Workers' salaries should be the priority in municipal budgets”

Şimşek called on the municipal administrations and said, "Do not allow the hard work of the workers to be wasted. The priority in municipal budgets should be the salaries of the employees. The rights of the workers should be paid as soon as possible and in full."

At the end of his statement, Şimşek stated that they will continue to support the workers as HAK-İŞ and HİZMET-İŞ and said, "We will never give up our demand for respect for labor and a humane life."
