Tahsin Becan: 'Yalova, Strategic Location Makes It a Key Hub for Industry and Trade'

Yalova’s Growing Potential Despite Its Size
During a speech at the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Tahsin Becan, CHP MP for Yalova, emphasized that despite its small size, the province of Yalova has vast potential in various sectors such as industry, tourism, and education. Becan pointed out that Yalova, often referred to as the "third shore" of Istanbul, has become an important center for commerce and employment due to its shipyards and organized industrial zones (OSBs).

The Need for a Railway Network
Becan noted that Yalova’s location between three major metropolitan cities — Istanbul, Kocaeli, and Bursa — provides a major logistical advantage. However, he argued that this advantage has not been fully utilized. "For the development of trade, logistics opportunities, and employment, a railway network passing through Yalova has become an absolute necessity," Becan said.

Railway Network to Boost Commercial Growth
Emphasizing the role of industrial zones in Yalova’s growth, Becan highlighted the importance of establishing a railway line passing through the OSBs. "At the very least, a railway line passing through the industrial zones would greatly accelerate Yalova’s commercial and economic growth," he stated. Becan called on the government and the Ministry of Transport to take the necessary steps to realize this development.
