MHP’s Filiz Kılıç: ‘Khojaly, A Dark Stain in Human History’

Khojaly Genocide and Crime Against Humanity
MHP Group Deputy Leader Filiz Kılıç stated that the Khojaly genocide, which took place on February 26, 1992, was a crime against humanity not only against Azerbaijan but against the entire Turkic world. Kılıç stated, “613 of our brothers, including women, children, and the elderly, were murdered by Armenian forces. People were burned alive, shot, and their bodies mutilated.” She emphasized that this brutal massacre would never be forgotten or allowed to be forgotten.

Western Silence
Kılıç pointed out that the atrocities in Khojaly should be recognized as a genocide under international law, but criticized the silence of the West, saying, “Countries that never stop talking about human rights and democracy played the three monkeys in Khojaly. Today, they continue their silence against similar atrocities in the Islamic world.”

Turkey’s Support for Azerbaijan
Referring to the words of MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli, Kılıç said, "The Khojaly genocide was an attack not only against the Azerbaijani Turks but all of Turkicness." She reaffirmed that Turkey will always stand with Azerbaijan in its rightful cause. Kılıç further stated that after the 44-day Karabakh war in 2020, the Turkish flag was raised in Karabakh, adding, “This honor is enough for us!”

Ongoing Reconstruction in Karabakh
Kılıç shared that she visited Karabakh and inspected reconstruction activities in Shusha, Khankendi, and Khojaly. She said, “The desire of our brothers to return to their homeland and their hope for the future brings us joy. As Turkey, we will continue to support Azerbaijan's reconstruction efforts.”

Honoring Khojaly Martyrs
Kılıç concluded her speech by remembering the martyrs of the Khojaly Genocide, stating, "Justice will eventually prevail, and the perpetrators will be held accountable. How happy is the one who says ‘I am a Turk!’"
