Halil Öztürk of MHP: "Those who cause forest fires should be sentenced to life imprisonment"

The number of fires has doubled in the last 10 years
MHP Kırıkkale Deputy and Member of the Parliamentary Justice Commission Halil Öztürk presented his law proposal to the Turkish Grand National Assembly against the increasing forest fires throughout Türkiye.

Penalties against fires are aggravated
According to the law proposal prepared, those who burn without permission in forests are sentenced to three to five years of imprisonment and intentional forests are sentenced to life imprisonment.

New Personnel and Technological Support Plan
In the proposal, 5 %of the total personnel in the forest organization for the fight against fire must be employed as experts of fire criminology and 10 %permanent fire extinguishing workers.

Post -deterrent fines and new building standards
Those who do not comply with the ban on accommodation in areas outside the forest is given an offer to give an administrative fine of 10,000 TL per day.

Obligation for ecological restoration after fire
According to the proposal, it is compulsory to afforest the regions after the fire in a year in accordance with the climate of the region and to revitalize wildlife.

Educational activities will be expanded
In cooperation with the General Directorate of Forestry and the Ministry of National Education, the organization of seminars and information meetings regarding the fight against forest fires is also within the scope of the proposal.
