AK Party Izmir Deputy Şebnem Bursalı: 'Don't Play with Workers' Bread, You Will See the Red Card'

The mass layoff decision of İZDOĞA A.Ş., affiliated with the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, has become a hot topic in politics. AK Party İzmir Deputy Şebnem Bursalı criticized the statement made by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay and targeted the CHP administration with harsh words.

'Question your 25-year-old work'

Bursalı criticized the CHP administration in İzmir and stated that the municipality has been governed with the same mentality for a quarter of a century. Bursalı said, "Every new mayor blames the previous mayor for his incompetence. This mentality has squandered the resources provided by the taxes of the people of İzmir. There are neither tangible projects nor resources in İzmir. Where is the money if there is no project, where is the project if there is no money?"

'The victimization is billed to the worker'

AK Party MP Bursalı stated that the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality was avoiding responsibility by constantly blaming the previous administrations and said, "If the previous administrations were irresponsible, you cannot put the blame on the workers who are trying to make a living. If you keep throwing the ball into the net, you will receive the red card from the Izmir voters."

'So-called social municipality'

Bursalı claimed that the CHP's management in Izmir's understanding of social municipality remained only in words. Stating that steps far from transparency were taken instead of solutions in union talks, Bursalı said, "This insensitivity towards workers' rights proves that the CHP's promise of social municipality is only election propaganda."

'Economic dynamics are in danger'

Şebnem Bursalı stated that the dismissal decision would harm the economy of İzmir and described the CHP's management as "make-up and perception management". Bursalı concluded her statement by saying, "We have always stood by the workers. You need to produce solutions, not by playing with the workers' bread. We will not remain silent against the unjust practices in İzmir."
