CHP's Burhanettin Bulut: "Actual Detention for Artists, Acquittal for Tons of Drugs"

CHP Deputy Chairman and Adana Deputy Burhanettin Bulut brought to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey the acquittal of all defendants in the case regarding approximately one ton of drugs seized in the operation held in Hatay's Reyhanlı district a few years ago.

In his statement on the subject, Bulut said, "Those who ignore tons of drugs are raiding artists in the early hours of the morning with the accusation of 'encouraging drugs'. This situation is tragicomic."

“Helpful businessman” was included as a defendant in the file
CHP's Bulut, in his parliamentary question submitted to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly with the request of the Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya to answer, reminded that approximately one ton of drugs were seized in the operation carried out thanks to the tip of the driver of the drug-laden truck.

Referring to the allegations that the case was closed, Bulut said, "According to the information made public, it is claimed that the file was closed in exchange for 350 thousand dollars and a vehicle."

The claim that “91 files were resolved in the WhatsApp group”
CHP's Bulut reminded the allegations that the President of Kırıkhan High Criminal Court resolved 91 files together with judges and prosecutors in a WhatsApp group in exchange for bribes.

“Society's sense of justice is being damaged”
Bulut stated that the fight against drugs was limited to accusations of "encouraging use", and that decisions of impunity in cases where tons of drugs were caught shook the trust in the justice system.

Questions directed to the Ministry
CHP's Bulut asked the following questions, requesting the Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya to answer:

• What is the reason for the acquittal of all defendants in the drug file caught in Reyhanlı, Hatay?

• A.G. mentioned in the file.

• For what reason was the case transferred to Kırıkhan Courthouse?

• Has the HSK initiated an investigation into the alleged bribery network and judge-prosecutor group in Kırıkhan Courthouse?

• Have the allegations of changing the decision in exchange for 350 thousand dollars and a vehicle been investigated?

• Does the person introduced as a "helpful business person" have political connections or relations with public institutions?

• What is the rate of operations against major suppliers in the fight against drugs?

• What is the purpose of the investigations against artists detained on charges of "encouraging drugs"?
