Deputy Koray Aydın: "The place of elected mayors is the service seat, not prison cells"

Independent Ankara Deputy Koray Aydın, on September 17, 2025 with a written statement shared by official social media accounts responded to the allegations about the Mayor of Şişli Emrah Şahan.

Aydin, in some press organs and social media, the Mayor of Şişli Emrah Şahan'dan complaining that the news, even bribery or donations claimed that the allegations were brought to the agenda.

"Elected mayors should not be worn out"
Aydin, after the 31 March 2024 elections, many mayors were dismissed, arrested or appointed as a trustee said.

Aydın said in his statement:
"In a normal state of law, no one is exempt from trial. However, the presumption of innocence should be preserved, unjustified executions should be avoided. Especially the mayors, especially those who have health problems, should be tried without arrest."

"Trust to the legal system is damaged"
