DEVA Party Deputy Chairman Sadullah Kısacık: "What is national belongs to the nation, it cannot be surrendered to profit"
DEVA Party Deputy Chairman, Party Spokesperson and Adana Deputy Sadullah Kısacık, in his speech regarding the National Parks Law Proposal discussed at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, said that the regulation is against the constitution and the principle of public interest.
DEVA Party Deputy Chairman, Party Spokesperson and Adana Deputy Sadullah Kısacık, Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi Genel Kurulu’nda görüşülen National Parks Law Proposal üzerine söz aldı. Kısacık, teklifin anayasanın ormanların ve millî parkların korunmasına ilişkin hükümlerine aykırı olduğunu belirterek, devletin bu alanları koruma yükümlülüğünü hatırlattı.
Kısacık stated that transferring the management and operation of national parks to private companies is incompatible with the principle of the rule of law and said, "A national asset is something that belongs to the nation. An asset with 'national' at the beginning of its name cannot be transferred to the private sector or surrendered to profit."
“You turned the country into a joint stock company”
In his speech at the General Assembly, Kısacık argued that the government aims to create a new revenue area under the name of protecting national parks, and cited the recent increases in public services and increased penalties as examples.
Claiming that the economic burden on society increases every week with new tax, fee and penalty regulations, Kısacık stated that they want to make national parks a part of this process.
“Public interest is to protect nature, not to parcel it out”
In his speech, Kısacık argued that the concept of "public interest" was abused within the scope of the proposal.
Kısacık stated that turning national parks into construction sites of companies would have environmental and social consequences, and noted that the aim of nature protection should not be weakened.
“Wildlife and the rule of law are in danger”
Claiming that the proposal weakens deterrence in the fight against poaching, Kısacık said, "It has been officially stated that 60 thousand people are engaged in poaching in Türkiye. This proposal alleviates deterrent penalties and allows poachers to hunt again."
Stating that weakening judicial supervision regarding illegal buildings would harm the principle of the rule of law, Kısacık emphasized that the door should not be opened to administrative arbitrariness.
