New Path Alliance Sends Message of Democracy and Unity: 'Turkey Is Not Doomed to a Two-Party System'

Joint Iftar from Three-Party Alliance
The New Path Alliance, comprised of the Saadet Party, Future Party, and DEVA Party, held a joint iftar dinner in Ankara during the month of Ramadan. The event was attended by numerous party members, MPs, and guests. The leaders of all three parties delivered speeches focusing on democracy, rule of law, and the political climate in Turkey.

Ali Babacan: 'Democracy is more than the ballot box'
DEVA Party Chair Ali Babacan emphasized that democracy cannot be reduced to election results alone.
'Democracy is not just about the ballot box. It only becomes meaningful when supported by rule of law and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms,' Babacan stated.
He underlined the importance of strong institutions for national strength and referenced a Turkish citizen recently awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics, noting:
'Countries with strong institutions prosper together. Where institutions are weak, nations fall into disorder.'

Ahmet Davutoğlu: 'A transformation in mindset is essential'
Future Party Chair Ahmet Davutoğlu reflected on the historical message of 'Read' as the first command in Islam, interpreting it as a call for mental and moral awakening.
'No new path can be built without a change in mindset and ethics,' Davutoğlu said.
He drew parallels between global authoritarian trends and Turkey’s internal politics, warning of a domestic version of Trumpism.
'Either we submit to authoritarianism or we pursue a path that honors human dignity. There is no middle ground,' he stated. Davutoğlu also addressed the injustice in Gaza, calling for a global order rooted in human rights and justice.

Mahmut Arıkan: 'Turkey is not a principality, but a state with a millennium of legacy'
Saadet Party Chair Mahmut Arıkan highlighted the alliance's goal of becoming a genuine political alternative in Turkey.
'Türkiye is not destined for a two-party system,' Arıkan said, noting that the country deserves serious, accountable governance.
He added, 'This is not a country to be run with empty promises. It is a young republic built on a thousand years of state tradition.'
Arıkan also criticized recent political pressures and injustices, stating:
'Our struggle is for a Turkey where justice is trustworthy, the law is respected, and the judiciary is impartial.'

A New Political Understanding Rooted in Unity
All three leaders emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue, institutional reform, and a new political culture based on cooperation and justice. The event served as a platform for advocating against polarization and promoting pluralistic democracy.
