Saadet Party Mustafa Kaya: “This is not a climate, the commercial law; Türkiye should not sacrifice its own industry”

Felicity Party Deputy Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Mustafa Kaya, on July 1, 2025 on the 12th article of the Climate Law at the General Assembly of the Parliament, argued that the regulation was removed by foreign trade pressure, not environmental reasons.

"The Climate Law is quickly, hurriedly passed"
Kaya said that during the commission works, the deputies were exposed to meetings that lasted for hours and the proposal was tried to be hurried, “As if all the problems are over and now we have an effort to adapt ourselves to the legislation.”

"The world is opening thermal, we are closing"
In the countries such as Germany, India, USA, Belarus and South Africa, new thermal power plants have been opened or capacity increases, "the example of the US Paris Agreement, China did not undertake any obligation. So why do we sabotage our own industry?"

"Carbon trade is imposed under the name of the Climate Law"
In his speech, Kaya said that the Climate Law has become a commercial obligation to comply with Europe's carbon regulations rather than fighting the climate crisis.

"Filter inspection is not done, the rule is poor"
Kaya argued that the obligation to filter in thermal power plants was postponed for capital circles, claiming that the double standard is applied in environmental regulations.

"We are like 8th jury in 12 angry Man"
Ünlü 1957 yapımı 12 Angry Men (12 Kızgın Adam) filmine gönderme yapan Kaya, “Biz bazen sizi yorsak da, sizi ikna etmeye çalışan 8. jüriyiz. Sizi durdurmaya değil, doğru karar aldırmaya çalışıyoruz” diyerek sözlerini tamamladı.
