Vahap Seçer, Vice President of TBB: “Our mayors should not be arrested until their crimes are fixed, they should return to their cities”

Vice President of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB) and Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Vahap Seçer visited the mayors who were detained in Silivri Prison.

Seçer made a statement after the visit, the mayors of the detainees to prepare the indictments as soon as possible and want to defend themselves in front of the court, he said.

"Mayors should return to their cities"
Seçer pointed out that the mayors have service responsibilities in the cities where they are selected, “The indictments should be prepared as soon as possible, our friends should be brought to the court. Our mayors should return to their cities and continue to serve their citizens”.

"Power must compete with services"
Seçer, who criticized the current power in his statement, said, “The government should compete with us not using the judicial power but by competing with our services. It is incompatible with democracy to use the judicial path to eliminate its rivals.”

Voicing that they expect the process to accelerate the process with the end of the judicial holiday, the indictments prepared in a short time to prepare the mayors' trial process hoped to pass.
