Exclusion from Turkish Media in Azerbaijan: 'Two States, One Nation, One Media' Meeting Completed

The 2nd Turkey-Azerbaijan Media Meeting, organized in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani press, was held in four cities with intense participation. From the artificial intelligence panel to the Karabakh tour, from diplomatic contacts to the visit to the martyrs' cemetery, messages of brotherhood were given in many events.

Media meeting in Azerbaijan
The 2nd Turkey-Azerbaijan Media Meeting, organized in cooperation with the Global Journalists Council (KGK) and the official media organization of Azerbaijan, Press Council (MS), was held in the cities of Ganja, Shusha, Khojaly and Baku between 27-31 May 2025. The event was organized in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani press.
 
The first meeting was held in Baku in 2019. This year's organization was attended by nearly 50 journalists who are members of the KGK, accompanied by Sabah newspaper writer Yavuz Donat. The program began with a landing at Ganja Airport. During the city tour in Ganja, historical buildings, the Turkish martyrs' cemetery and the house of Nuri Pasha, which was converted into a museum by TİKA, were visited.
 
Karabakh emphasis in Shusha
The delegation then went to Shusha. The journalists met with the people in the new settlement areas, took photographs in the Cıdır Düzü region and examined the restoration work of the mosques and masjids in the region. In Khojaly, traces of the Armenian attacks and testimonies were heard.
 
Artificial intelligence panel was organized
The theme of the Media Forum held in Baku was “Artificial Intelligence Journalism”. The opening was made by Press Council President Reşat Macit and KGK General President Mehmet Ali Dim. SODİMER President Prof. Dr. Levent Eraslan, AIPA President Zafer Küçükşabanoğlu and NTV Representative Merih Ak made presentations. It was stated that the outputs of the forum will be shared in written and digital formats.
 
Important statements from Hikmet Hajiyev
Vice President of Azerbaijan and Chief Foreign Policy Advisor Hikmet Hajiyev spoke about the peace process with Armenia, the importance of the Zangezur Corridor and Azerbaijan-Turkey relations in a consultation meeting with journalists. Stating that a 17-article peace text has been prepared, Hajiyev emphasized that it is imperative to remove the Karabakh article from the Armenian Constitution.
 
National Assembly and Embassy contacts
Journalists visited the Azerbaijani National Assembly and received information about the legislative processes. The delegation met with the Turkish Ambassador to Baku, Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün, at a reception held at the Baku Embassy and exchanged views on the relations between the two countries.
 
Turkish martyrs' cemetery and brotherhood message
As part of the program, points such as the Turkish Martyrs' Memorial and Victory Park were visited. KGK Chairman Dim emphasized that the event strengthened Azerbaijan-Turkey media cooperation and stated that the understanding of 'Two states, one nation, one media' was strengthened.
