The Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkish States Gathered in TRNC: Strategic Topics on the Table for a Common Future
The 17th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States was held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on 1-2 May 2025. Important representatives of the Turkic world attended the meeting held in Kyrenia; issues such as energy security, climate change and the Middle Corridor were discussed.
The 17th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkish States (TDT) was held in Kyrenia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, on 1-2 May 2025. The meeting was organized with the aim of increasing political, economic and cultural cooperation within the Turkish world.
The meeting was attended by the Council President Binali Yıldırım, TDT Secretary General Kubanıçbek Ömüraliyev, TRNC Aksakalı İsmail Bozkurt, Azerbaijan Aksakalı Hasan Hasanov, Kazakhstan Aksakalı İkram Adırbek, Kyrgyzstan Aksakalı Apas Dzhumagulov, Uzbekistan Aksakalı Sadıkcan Turdiyev and other TDT officials and institution representatives.
Strong message from TDT to TRNC
The fact that the meeting was held in the TRNC was considered an important indicator of the political support given by the Organization of Turkic States to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and its will to develop cooperation.
Strategic agenda items were discussed
Within the scope of the meeting, many topics were discussed, such as strengthening the Middle Corridor, increasing economic integration in the Turkic world, energy security, combating climate change and joint history studies.
Emphasis on a common future
Participants emphasized that the Turkic world should cooperate more closely to build a common future, and made various suggestions and evaluations for future steps.
